Frequently Asked Questions for State Pageant
Will a hair/makeup artist be allowed backstage during the pageant?
No. After rehearsal from 3-5 you are allowed to have an artists with you, but at 5 PM he/she must leave the dressing area/backstage.
How much are tickets and program books?
Tickets and program books are both $20 each. No cards or checks will be accepted.
Will contestants announce themselves on stage?
No, the emcee will introduce all contestants (name and number) for all age divisions.
What should I know about opening number?
Nothing - other than the wardrobe requirement of all white for junior high/high/collegiate and fun fashion for elementary contestants. We have a professional choreographer who will go over everything you need to know.
Regarding photogenic, will contestants compete with only their state or with the states combined? Photogenic divisions will only compete in their state and age division. The competition will not be combined.
Will the interview be seated or standing? All interviews will be standing and panel style. Elementary contestants have a 2 minute interview, and older contestants have a 4 minute interview.
Who’s allowed backstage? Once the pageant begins, only elementary contestants may have one chaperone between fun fashion and evening wear. No junior high/high/collegiate contestants may have anyone backstage once the pageant begins.
What is the national entry fee for elementary contestants? The fee is $650.
What are the makeup requirements for elementary students? Younger contestants should wear very minimal makeup for interview (lip gloss, mascara) - no foundation, etc. Stage makeup is up to the contestant.
Junior High School, High School and Collegiate should prepare as they would in a competitive state pageant.
How do I order pictures for the pageant?
Forms will available from Sheldon Smith Photography at registration - this is a great investment!
After the pageant, there will be a photoshoot for winners with Sheldon Smith Photography.
